Mardi's Journal
Hello World,
Hope your Thanksgiving Holiday was great. I went to Rhode Island and had a wonderful reunion with the band at Waterstreet Cafe in Fall River Massachusetts. It was so nice to be around the fam and the people and places that I remember. Back to Florida...tonight I will be at KoffeeOkee to do the honors at this eclectic coffee house in Delray Beach. One of my fave places to play. Look good and feel great!! Cheers,
Mardi
November 12, 2007 Hi all, it has been awhile since I wrote, I had some trouble with the site and couldn't update. So here goes, lots has been happening, I went to Kevro the other day to shoot the breeze and lo and behold, Kevin set me up to play on Friday night. Great place. We even got a photo shoot in and I will be posting some new pics on the site soon. Also, I have been hitting a lot of the open mics here, there are so many, it's hard to sit back and do nothing. Wish you were all here. I usually hit Java D'lites on Mondays and Fridays unless I have a gig, Coral Springs hosted by Renda Writer. Very interesting poet. Then on Tuesdays there is Dada, which is in Delray Beach and is one of the coolest places I have ever been to. Think of the art form of DADA, so real. Also on Tuesdays, Kevro Art Bar is another cool artist space, a lot of listeners there, I love that. Hosted as well, by Renda Also, (whew!!) on Tuesdays a new open mic for musicians only at Hurricane's in Delray down on Atlantic. This is hosted by Rob Arenth, guitarist (he's amazing) So, I have been busy. Also, I went to a new place on Saturday called Gizzi's, that is also in south Delray off Federal. I met Bobby, the host who put together this awesome show, the last act had cancelled, so he put me in. Things happen so fast for me. Anyway, so much music, so little time. I am traveling to Rhode Island next week and hope to see all my buds up there, definitely stop by Waterstreet. Here's to a happy and healthy love filled holiday to everyone. Love, Mardi
Hi There, East Bay Tavern was great, and I am glad I went. The band played awesome. Now its early June and the next show is on Sunday June 17th at the Penalty Box. Great place to hear local music. Many of you already know I went to Texas, it was heaven. I love the West, the Southwest, where my heart is. The lineup for the Penalty Box is: Me, Adam Helmer on Bass, and Steve Winnaberg on Drums. Guest guitarist...
What a good time at Corinnes in Pawtucket on Sunday,
with my good friend Sue. I walked in for the first time, I had never been there before...the band was awesome, with all those horns! I don't know the name of all the players, but they were great and it was fun. New kid in town, that's what I say. I am going to be playing in Oxford Massachusetts, my home town sometime this summer at Utterly Delicious. Also coming up is June 1st Friday at East Bay Tavern. That should be awesome, come out to that show.
Hi all. This is Adam Helmer I have been playing bass for Mardi, in the studio and live, for going on 10 years now. The release and nomination of "My Waking Eyes" has been huge this year. There is more to come brothers and sisters. There is a live album in the works. That's right folks you heard it here first. Of course the Motif magazine Awards will still be at Hi Hat, and it is very important that you all vote for Mardi. The live album will be a set of music that Nat Chamberlain, Norm Casey, Mardi and I played at Waterstreet Cafe about 3 months ago at the CD Release Party at Waterstreet Cafe in Fall River. The change in tonal difference between the studio album and the live show is dramatic, and definitely worth checking out if you like rock music. Nat played brilliantly and Norm was locking it down hard. I played the electric 5 string with flats that make the bass sound like a upright on steroids ...if I do say so myself. The song list is varied, but there are tracks that we play that come direct from the new album. Chuck Williams does some great guest vocal work on "High Times". The live show was recorded at Waterstreet Cafe". A very cool bar in Fall River, Ma. The owners Jeannie and Jim are true patrons of the local music scene. Chuck Ladouceur, from Red Dog Studios, who also mastered "My Waking Eyes", will be mixing and mastering this recording. He is a huge talent and Mardi scored big by meeting him. So here's to you, friends, fans and family and everyone that was there that night. Our tribute to one of the best venues in New England. LIVE AT WATERSTREET CAFE MARDI & THE CUTOUTS will hopefully be released by the summer.
Hi, Mardi here...we planned that night for 4 months. Maureen Glisson helped with promotion in the early stages and throughout the whole process. Dave Sousa who planted us on the front page of the Herald on a Friday night gave all of us good press. All hail Dave. Then of course is the precious soundman who really makes it all happen live. That's why this new CD exists, because of Nick. He recorded the night unbeknownst to us. I really wasn't expecting to release another album so soon, but this just really happened. Can't wait for you to hear it.
Peace,
Mardi
Welcome to the website. I am in the process of designing a myspace page, bear with me, should be done soon. Other than that, I found a new open mic that rocks; Morin's Restaurant in Attleboro, Mass. I played there last night and met up with some great players. US Sam hosts it and he is a talented player in his own right. Definitely going back.
hello walls...Ode to Willy Nelson. I spoke to Chuck Ledouceur at Red Dog Studios and it looks like the live CD will be out soon. Dave Souza did the photos for the band at the CD Release Party in January, seems like a million years ago already. They look great and the humble project will be off the ground. I don't think I told you about it; the show was recorded on a minidisc at the soundboard. The party is on people are talking and laughing, and cheering the band, it's so cool. But, the music is there, that's what matters. Highly anticipated by those involved, it should be good. The name is LIVE AT WATERSTREET WITH MARDI AND THE CUTOUTS. Adam calls it the CO. I like that. How about Mardi and Company? Too general? I like Planet Mardi and the Cutouts. too long. It's all good.Bye bye!
Hi there all you peeps. How is it going? Couldn't be better for me, it's always nice for your hard work to be recognized. Jim Vickers at Motif is a fan and thanks for that Jim. I also want to thank all that have purchased the cd. See if you can get a copy of the latest Motif. They just published the new Band Guide and there is a nice spread there for me and a write up. So, get out there and vote. Also, the awards ceremony is May 7th at Hi Hat, a great venue in Providence, so if you want to come and be my guest just let me know and I will put you on the guest list. Cheers and happy holiday.
Hey world, how is it going? We, meaning me, Nat and Adam found this rockin' joint at the East Bay Tavern, Steve the proprietor and the open mic host Steve. I swear, I have never rocked out so hard in all my life. Like going to heaven (for me anyway). The cutouts, Nat, and Adam and possibly a new drummer, John. We met a smoking drummer at East Bay who fits right in. There is just something about letting go, and having a creative high. I sometimes hear from fans near and far and I appreciate all of this, all of those who "get" it. I guess I have something to say. Here is the new song:
Stay
The Right foot, follows the left foot, it's never too late to find out my faults, my doubts.
The left foot, always the right way, it's never too late to come down off my shelf.
I am in this wonderland, never to go away, and I have it by my side and that's where it will stay, it will stay.
You're different yet familiar; its like the music that I express
I taste it with my senses, I haven't created more than my share
Well, I've done it again, I wrote a new song called...Wonderland. or Stay or Right Foot. Those are the choices so stick around and see what it ends up being. It's all about me!! I'm left footed, a creator, naive, my music is different yet familiar, and I am living in a Wonderland. I will be at Waterstreet on Thursday playing with the brothers. Peace troops.

Hi Everyone, Thanks to all who helped out with the party; it was a tremendous success!!! Everyone who went seemed to enjoy themselves. The band was stellar and we really made some noise. Look for more band events in the future. We are still working on new songs. Jeannie was so helpful as was Maureen Glisson. The opener was Rick Morriatti and he was wonderful. I even did an encore. Thanks you all for sharing an important moment for me. Cheers.
Monday Jan 22, 2007 Good news! Luis Peyron, my producer from Tucson is making plans to join us for the party. I hope he makes it. He's never been out to the East coast, so everyone give him a warm welcome.
Tuesday, Jan 16 I had a dream once, I was in Paris walking down the street and I decided to hop on a bus. There were teenage girls in the seats all singing one of my songs. There was a billboard that had a picture of me on it. The song was "Midnight Dream - Tell Me 2002
Does it give you something to believe in
Does it tear down and break down the walls
of your heavy heart
Does it take your breath away and send it down stream
Can you hear it calling, it's your legacy,
not secondary by any means.
Can you hear it calling?
Peace
Friday January 12. Everyone is gearing up for the party, at least I am. The article in Motif came out Wednesday and you should definitely grab a copy if you can. I was pleased with the presentation. Waterstreet is still a frequent hangout and the band is sounding better than ever! Come Friday, Jan 26, I will be at Coffee Depot hanging out for a feature at their open mic. Its a long set 45 min or so, so come out to Warren for that. I had a great plan a year ago, to come out with a professional sounding and looking CD. And I have done it. Not perfect, but passionate and real. I strive to be real, the world is so unreal sometimes and unforgiving. I read the news, about Bush and more troop buildup; about fires and melting ice. But, there is some light; more sun, enjoy it while we can. Sounds like I am a pessimist, but I'm not. I'm just a singer in a rock n roll band. Moody Blues said that. Of course, I am more than that. Changing and events; that is what life is, constant. Why did I just now figure that out?
Here's a ditty from the CD:
"Walking to the backdoor again,
locked out and lost out in the end.
Hoping to be found by a friend,
never to be left out in the end...
and I love you.
Come on down the weekend to stay
You were there beside me all the way
Looking for the difference between us
Slammin down the red door to free us
and I love you. Forgiveness
Time is running out for the war
Turbans high and proud like never before
Dying Death and downtrodden people
Going to great lengths to wreck the steeples
And I love you. Forgiveness
It's time we trained our eyes..
Give up the disguise
We don't have time to waste, or fool around."
January 2, 2007 WOW, HAPPY NEW YEAR 2007. Well it sure has come in with a bang! I am about to get some very good press. The article was written by Don DiMuccio of Motif Magazine - Providence Arts Mag - about what took years to live but took minutes to portray on one page. His take on my style and my accomplishments is heartening in a sometimes heartless business. Thanks Don.
Well, the flyers are out on the CD Release Party at Waterstreet, Fall River, East Bay, Providence and Worcester. If anyone wants to be on the guest list or needs directions, just email me. Love to all.
Dec 29, 2007. Hello all. The planning for the CD Release party is heating up. Looks like it will be a fantastic show. I just found out that Motif Magazine plans on doing a piece on me as well as review my new CD. Lets hope it comes out before the party! All good news. I have made some postcards to send out and if you want one, just email me your address. Otherwise you can pick one up at Waterstreet. I also made some new posters. My good friend Maureen from Waterstreet will be putting flyers all over Fall River at the First Night Venues. This should help to spread the word. If you want to RSVP and get on the guest list, that can be done, just send me an email and I will put you on it. Thanks everyone for your support and heres to a fantastic NEW Year!!!! Everyone be safe and enjoy the holiday. Love, Mardi
Its December 13th, and all is well. We meaning the "band o brothers" Nat, Norm and Adam have been putting together a great list of songs that we will be performing at the party on January 28th Sunday night 6-8pm at Waterstreet, my fave hangout. Mostly its the musicians that draw me there, so much talent and fun. So, we hope to see you there and enjoy the holiday.
Hey all, December is upon us and hence the holidays. I FINALLY!!!got a feature at Coffee Depot; 2 years in the making...I don't know why, I just love that place. I did the Musicians for Nonviolence there and made into the paper! The Warren Times. I started getting CD Baby set up to sell the new CD. That should be ready shortly. When we played at the Narrows, Nat recorded on his minidisk our set of 3 songs; We played "Top of My Rope", "Seize the Day" and "High Times" as a tribute to the Rescuers of Hurricane Katrina victims. Feel free to come by on Thursdays at Waterstreet Cafe, I always end up there. My peeps, y'know? Hope you have some peeps and good music to listen to. We - Adam and I have been working on a Death Cab for Cutie song "Follow You Into The Dark" Great song, so look for that.
Hi, how is it going? Yesterday we met for band practice, we meaning Adam, Norm and Nat. Startng to sound really good. We should be able to put on a great show for the CD Release party. Nice to have a 4 day weekend, I really needed it. I am taking a little time off from gigs, just a bit, I will let you know when I get more lined up. Its been a busy November! Most likely I will be back at Waterstreet soon. Talk to you later!
So much has been going on my head is spinning. Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and I hope everyone has a terrific holiday and eats alot, parties and has a barrel of fun. I have the rest of the week off, so I am happy! The last few shows have been a blast and I want ot tell you about them. When I played in Johnston with Rick Chartier and Frank is was great, nice room, Frank opened it up with some funky music that everyone loves. Then I did a full set of new songs; especially "Seize the Day" and others that are not on the new CD. I also played a bit in Warren RI on Friday at the open mic, trying to get a feature there has not been easy, but I am not giving up! Sunday was incredible, myself, Nat Chamberlain on Guitar, Norm, drummer extraordinaire and Adam Helmer we all played a short set at the Narrows Center for the Arts in Fall River, Mass. What a great stage! And the sound system was killer. We participated in a fund raiser for some dedicated folks who are going back to Mississippi to help rebuild after Katrina devastation took hold. Then we made it over to the WaterStreet Cafe next door and played another set with the band (as yet unnamed). That was smashing! Then, whew!!! (lots of gigs) I went to URI to play for a RISA event "Songs of Social Consciousness", a student run fundraiser. I played in the round 4 songs; 1."You Stay Here" (this one is on my website)2. The Return, 3. High Times for Me, 4. Kosovo. All very powerful messages about our times. Keep on being free, practice peace! Love, Mardi
This Saturday we play at Brewed Awakenings in Johnston. I like playing locally. I will be playing with Rick Chartier and Frank Martyn. Hope you can come to the show!
Hello all! Kevin Silva and I played at Brewed. Great musician and fine person. So, I played basically 2 30 minute sets, next week I will be playing with Frank Martin and Rick Chartier. Frank is a blast and I am looking forward to meeting another RISA member. I will be a playing 45 minute set that night. I finally talked to Jeannie at WAterstreet Cafe and we have decided the 3rd Thursday in January is the big night for me and my new CD, MY WAKING EYES. I will also have copies of the new RISA Calendar "Songwriters in the RAW" that night to sell.
This Saturday in Wakefield, nice house, coffee house that is. I will be playing with Kevin Silvia, should be a blast. Now, what you have all been waiting for (the envelope please)...the new CD My Waking Eyes is out finally, after 7 months of preparation, and now, I know it was worth the wait. I love it! Party time soon. By the way, everyone get out and vote tomorrow, very important, now more than ever. History will tell if we are right. So, there are several new songs are coming as we speak. I just wrote "Seize the Day" a very anthemic song for sure. I can't wait to get it out there. "Seize the day, right away, it's not too late for you to see, seize the day, you've got it straight and it's only a breath away."
Mon Oct 23. Coffee Depot will be awesome this Saturday, I am really looking forward to playing some introspective, outer directed songs. We wrote a new song, it's called "Secondary Stripes" We played it at Waterstreet last night and it rocks. So, the party will be in Fall River and probably this year, I hope. I promise not to send out any massive emails. I keep forgetting to use the BCC field. Sorry to everyone who received massive emails from me, it won't happen again.
Sunday Oct 15. Brewed Awakenings is cool, I played there last night with Chris Wilhelm another RISA member. I play there again on the 11th of Nov. There are so many things going on, oh my, I took a couple of months off and lo an behold, things are busy. The "RISA in the RAW" calendar is coming out next Month, can't wait to see it! I heard from John that it is outstanding! Thanks to Denise Bass for making me look so good! Hey, it's music related, right? I am trying to get into a Dinner Theatre in Spencer, Mass so look for that. And the date for the CD Release is December 2, 2006, that will be the pinnacle of the year.
October 9th, 2006. Waterstreet was slammin' on Thursday, I opened the jam and had a ton of fun. You really should check it out. Udderly Delicious should be fun, I love playing in my home town. Well, I changed my mind again and the CD was delayed, trying to get the order just right. Then there's the NERFA conference which should be an all out blast. That's when the naked calendar will debut...oh yeah, I forgot about that, I am July! Earlier this month I heard the recording from the second RISA cd. It sounded great, I just dont know when that is coming out. I may also be going to Tucson again. I have enough material to do another CD, who knows...maybe December or January. Time will tell. TAlk to you soon!!!!!
Tuesday 7/11/06
Hi guys, time has slipped away while I was busy playing and having fun. Hope your summer is as glorious as mine. the gigs have been going well. Tazza was great and I played alongside of an Australian band that was very cool. The CD release is coming up soon, I dont have a date yet but that will be coming directly. Thursdays have been fun I have been attending the "open jam" at Waterstreet Cafe, I love it there! So much fun and the only chance I really have to perform with a band. They pretty much know my stuff now, so its great. Come out if you can, 8:30 ish or so. I just got the fully mixed CD from Luis in Tucson and its hot! I cant wait to get this thing out, patience... see you all at the shows.
Tuesday 6/13
Hello all, its been rain and uck now its nice again, thank God for the weatherman. The site is coming along and we have a new look, Here's to my Okie Web guy. Sunday was another banner day at Waterstreet. "Forgiveness" was performed with a full band, it blew my mind really, so powerful, and next week is the recording for RISA's new CD and it will be on it.COOL.
Saturday, 3rd of June.
Well, the summer is here, sort of. Last Sunday we went to Waterstreet Cafe and jammed our buts off. Jeannie is very cool and the soundsystem rocks. We did "Big Dog", one of my favorite jam tunes. Also, Hide Your Love Away by the Beatles and Keep on Rockin in the Free World.I had the full band backing me up. I love that! I really am a rocker at heart. Worcester Magazine published a pic and a promo for the Oxford gig, so nice of them! See if you can get your hands on it. Lots of interest in the new Cd, "The Big Picture". I will be posting some of the lyrics on the site. I should have the first run by the 25th of June. Also, this month will be a major overhaul of the site, so expect some new images, links and songs. As always, peace to all.
24TH Wednesday. The Armory gig went well. It looks like a little castle right there on the east side. Nice acoustic room. I decided to take my sweet Martin guitar that has no electronics and just have them mic it. That is the bomb right there. It made the guitar sound so fat. That is what I want! Also appearing were Marc Douglas Berardo, Lori Amey and Chris Rosenquist.West Side Arts hosted it. I will be at that venue again next Wednesday for their first open mic.
May 20, 2006 Now that May is almost over I thought I would put in my two cents. Last night in Hartford went great. Chris Monti was great and the acoustics in Shirleys coffeehouse are wonderful. Its a smoke-free/alcohol-free venue and it works great. Monday I will be at the Armory. I heard it was a hidden gem in Providence, lets make some noise. I am still waiting for the CD to be done. In the meantime, I have reissued one of my favorite CD's to sell at shows. The best one is "Purexperience" also recorded in Tucson. That has recordings of the live band and some of my best Aztech Studios stuff. I will also be selling "sneak preview" CD's for those who cant wait for the new one to come out.(I know I can't)oh by the way; My car had a near fatal break out 2 weeks ago and that was a nailbiter for 3 days, until my cherished mechanic fixed it. All Hail Jim! I have been busy!
April 21, 2006 Wow, April has flown by. Tucson recording session was amazing. Thanks to Luis Peyron for pulling it together in one week. I accomplished my goal to record an entire cd in one week. 9 songs are now in post production and should be ready for release in June. I have to admit I had a little jetlag and culture shock when I got home. Tucson is a magical place. Thanks to Lamont Arthur and Mike Flanery for their instrumental work on the cd. I just found out a friend and collaborator from Tucson has passed away, prayers to the family of Arthur Miscione who died 2 weeks ago. On a lighter note, Tazza will have me as feature on July 5th, everyone come out for that. Cheers to all and happy spring!
March 25, 2006. Hi y'all. We went to Tazza in Providence downcity to play at the Wednesday open mic. I just can't resist playing the new songs; 2 new ones in fact.
"Forgiveness" was played publicly for the first time, that one is for the AS220 show theme on April 9th. (Hopefully, I will have it recorded in Tucson by then.) Also, I have written an anthem song for the world, its called "Try, Alright". Weird title but amazing song (if I do say) It's about innocence, or trying to get back to that. It went over well and I think it's finished. "Forgiveness" is still a work in progress believe it or not. I added a bridge. I enjoy my creative license. One more week until Tucson, I cant wait.
March 19, 2006 Well, its one in the morning and I cant sleep. I had the honor of playing with folk legend Jonathan Edwards today in Rutland, Massachusetts (Rutland is dead center in the middle of the state-not kidding!). Not only did he back me up on some of my new material, but he even played a song to the delight of all. Thanks Mary Krause and Artie Sandoli for the invite. Now I can sleep!
March 18, 2006 Hi everybody. Wickford Gourmet was very gracious and we played some great sets. Thanks to Paul Pasch. He was great. Also, I even got to see a bunch of friends at Waterstreet Cafe on Thursday. I played the open mic with a stage band. It was crazy, but crazy good. For April: I finished the song for the AS220 songwriters show. The theme is "Forgiveness". That was an easy one. There is so much need for that now in these times. Some of the lyrics:
Time is running out for the war. Turbans high and proud like never before. Death and dying, downtrodden people, going to great lengths to wreck the steeple, and I love you: Forgiveness, forgiveness" Till next time; love and peace to all.
March 13, 2006 The Stone Soup gig went great. We played in the first set, Mary Ellen Casey, Josie Crosby and Ian Fitzgerald. We knocked em dead. What a great thing this RISA provides to the community! Thanks RISA!
March 8, 2006 Well the times they are a changin'. Next month I am traveling to Tucson, Arizona (my old hometown) to record a new CD with Luis Peyron of Aztech Studios. Cant wait. Also, look for more gigs in Western Massachusetts soon. Hail to RISA for all the good work they do, namely, John Fuzek, I dont know how he keeps track of it all. I have been working quite a bit with Mary Krause, a fabulous musician and singer doing duets on some of my originals and folk covers. Look for some gigs with her soon, or she may just show up at any time to sing backups with me, you never know! See you all...love Mardi
February 16, 2006. Well, the winter isnt nearly as cold and harsh as it was last year, yes!!! I have been busy writing new songs and keeping in touch with old friends and new. Breaking into a new place is harder than I thought it would be. I am not a native here, more Worcester, Tucson, Texas, I guess I find the climate here stimulating and refreshing really. Cheers to all and hopes for an early spring. Keep listening and come to some shows.
December 28, 2005 Hello world! This may be the last entry this year possibly. Christmas is past us and we only have a short time left here in this calender year. Lets hope the coming year will be more peaceful. Strange times, but nothing different really, same chapter different book. I have gotten into Laura Nyro recently. Live at the Fillmore East, 1971, New York. Wow, that really blew me away. I am grateful for all the people on this planet that I know and love and I hope to be a better person this year. Sometimes I want to just go on an on here, ramble about the weather, government, price of oil, what does this all have to do with me? Where is the music? Where? Good luck to you and have a safe holiday. Friends near and far.....
November 4th Hi People. The gig at Elizatheth's went really well. Thanks to everyone who showed up. I was fortunate to have the piano man Henry come out, he plays there on Wednesday's as well. We did a set of just him and I together and it was great. Also, I finally have some CD's to sell. They look great. Aside from that, two new songs have just been born. I played both at Elizabeths and received a good review on both. Other poetry has come to the surface, here is one I like:
As the dirt falls on the floor, the waiter stacks the plates and cups and forks and spoons for the early crowd.
and in the air it smells like smog and bread and grease and coffee and the clock on the wall has never worked.
and it's so loud, so loud for crying out loud.
Hail the cab thats occupied the workers eat their apple pies while the porter reads the paper as the train flies by.
And the busses never seems to stop and the Metro runs by the clock and meanwhile I got to close my eyes, cause its so loud, so loud for crying out loud.
As the dirt falls on the floor, the waiter stacks the plates and cups and forks and spoons for the early crowd.
October 26, 2005 Hello everyone. Well, the times they are a'changing...so many lives lost in the war, so much destruction by nature, so much corruption in the powers that govern this country. I am fueled by anger and write most of my best songs when I feel passionately about something. So, I write and write...look for some new material soon.
Speaking of writing, I went to a fundraiser in Cranson Rhode Island on Sunday. The headliner was a folk singer from Massachusetts, Lori McKenna and Mike Aquino. NEWS BULLETIN: Yesterday marked the third anniversary of my residency here in New England from Denton Texas! So much has happened and I truly feel like a different person that what I was when I arrived. New England has been very good to me, not only that but I was born in Worcester Mass (Just up the road from Providence)so I really feel like I belong here. I miss Tucson and of course my family in Texas no doubt. But how can you measure success? Is it achievement of financial security? Respect? Personal security? Accomplishment artistically? Friends? A community? Well I feel like I am successful. I wish that for everyone. Beauty and success are in the eye of the beholder. Until next time.
The Borders gig was great, had a nice turnout, everyone sounded great. Looking forward to New Bedford next week.
NEW CD ALMOST FINISHED! The new CD was recorded actually, 2 years ago. The project was abandoned and resurfaced earlier this year. So, production is complete and the graphics and all that are finishing up, should be out soon.
LYRICSAnother Day In My Life
We fight with each other and not very well
I misunderstand you oh well, what the hell
You said stupid things and I start to hate you
We finally talk and I cant forget you
Why did you do it why say goodbye?
So many times that I start to cry
I cant always read whats in your mind
Your jealous and moody and wasting my time
We meet again and it's foreign, it's strange
Whatever we had its just not the same
And then you touch me and life is a blur
I figure its just another day in my life, thats for sure
Thursday, September 22, 2005
Hello all...last night we traveled all the way to Fall River, Massachusetts to play for the open mic at the Narrows Center for the Arts, one of my favorite places to play. I hooked up with Bob Elliot, great guitar player from Martha's Vineyard (my namesake for those of you who know my real name!) We went on first. I love that place, best acoustics award...then we went to the Custom House, downtown Providence, played there, good crowd, they really listen. It can be a little daunting; when people are talking and not really paying attention to you, it seems easier, I don't have much stage fright, but when they are staring at you so close, you better have your shit together. So it was a good night, and just to get out there and play...well, I am all for it. See you next week.
Friday, September 16, 2005
Time again to update you on what is happening, it seems like it is always something...I could be really depressed for all the bad news, but I feel too good to go there. Anyway, yesterday I talked with Luis Peyron, my old producer and engineer, he alone is responsible for the majority of my recordings and the best of them as well. So, he is sweating it out in Tucson, watching the tumbleweeds go by. I wish I was there, not for the tumbleweeds, but for him. Such a good friend after all these years, we still can talk as if it was just yesterday since we saw each other. I love friendships like that. Plus he totally believes in what is going on with the music. He "gets" it! Just maybe there might be a trip to Tucson in the works. Also, I found out from him that Mike Flanery, the guitarist who sat in on "Something to Believe In aka Midnight Dreams" is still playing at the Iguana Cafe on Friday nights there in Tucson. At least I will know where to find him when I need him!! Nothing changes much in Tucson, but I feel like my life changes by the minute. Ever feel that way? So bye bye baby, see you on the upswing.

Hello all, hows it going? I am working on getting at least 2 of the older cd's mastered and offering them up for sale at the November auction at Waterstreet Cafe, more details will be forthcoming. I really want to get some product going, so look for newly mastered and packaged classics, well thats for those who have been listening to the music for awhile. Since I am new to Providence they are all new. I really have some great recordings and they are worth getting out. So look for that, and a CD Release Party, perhaps at Waterstreet Cafe in Fall River, not sure yet. We shall see, won't we?

Lots happening right now, summer is over, and finally I am writing again. The "Top of my Rope" is a new song, should be called end of my rope, but its more like me to climb than to fall. I have been meeting some of you for the first time, its so good to be working again. You never know, you might be a part of it. I attend the open mic in New Bedford on Tuesday nights, great place and very open minded. Thursdays you can catch me at Waterstreet Cafe for the open/mic/jam session, always fun. The photo gallery that is all dark, the first one, was taken at Waterstreet during a jam.
I still play rock with the band but lately I have been playing more solo stuff and working on my craft. It keeps me centered. I am being fueled by the torture of the news and the politics of errors. My old song, "KOSOVO" was written during the war in Yugoslavia, but it is still so relevant, actually, more relevant. I am hoping to record that properly sometime soon. My wise and talented sister Mary has been encouraging me to get the word out. Some of the lyrics;
"The war looks so far away and there's no end in sight. Can't you see its burning, the whole thing is coming down...too many casualties, its such a mess, cant you see its burning, your policies seem so weak, and you overplayed your hand, is that what you want?"
I'll end with that. Feel free to send a message, always welcome. Now that I know how to update, I will be here more often. Love to all.

Its me again. This weekend to celebrate the birth of our independence we will be travelling all the way to Cranston, Rhode Island to participate in a July Fourth Jam at Bill and Pam's. They are part of RISA, the Rhode Island
Songwriters Association, of which I am a part. Just recently joined and have performed in their Womens Review that took place in Warren Rhode Island. It was held at a beautiful old church, the Church Street Coffee House. Yes, they had coffee! The format was very cool, we sort of sang "In the Round" meaning, they chose 3-4 performers to take turns playing their songs. We had a very full crowd and very supportive. RISA is great. I am really enjoying this organization. There are some very talented players
here, men and women. Rhode Island, being so small affords a lot of opportunities to play. There are open Mic coffee houses and clubs in abundance. Our favorite ones are The Custom House Tavern located in downtown Providence. Talk about energy! It's very cool and can run well into the evening. Then there our particular favorite: Ocean Mist in
Matunuck Rhode Island. It's a long haul to get there but worth it. The stage is huge and acoustics and sound system are amazing. It is one of the few places that we can really rock out and they always have a fine drummer
to accompany. Plus its just right on the water, and in the evening it really does give off lots of MIST! Time to go and write some more later. Cheers to all.

Hi guys, its so good to be able to talk to you finally. Now that my website is up I will be blogging whenever new stuff comes up. Regarding the CD, we thought we had it finished, Adam and I, and then it turns out, we wanted to put real drums on it and a lead guitar/piano. So back to the drawing board for now. Its got some great songs on it, all original of course. There are new reviews that will be posted from some of you who have already gotten a pre-listen, so look for those. Cheers to our friend and brother Matt Simper all the way out there in Tucson, Arizona. His input has really made a difference to us. All input is welcome as we are a work in progress. Well now, summer is definitely upon us and the kids are here from Texas. Great time is being had by all. The oldest, Joel, is moving up here in the fall.
He is a great guitar player in his own right and you will be hearing more from him. All for now, hope everyone is well and you are enjoying your life. We only have one, so let your freak flag fly!
Thursday, June 30
Wow the last day of June, half the year is over. Time is flying and so are we. Last week we traveled to gorgeous Newport Rhode Island to play at a little obscure club called AREA on River Lane. We had trouble finding it at first. Apparently, there is an actual river running underneath it. I guess that would rule out any excavation plans. Anyhow, not much from the outside, but once you get in there the place looks like a totally hip rockin' club. I have never heard my voice sound like that, I could feel every inflection. The stage is elevated and well put together and we had a great reception. Definitely check it out. Since this is my first entry, I dont want to over do it, so farewell to all til next time, and if you see Matt, tell him I said Hi brother.
Love
